As EuGMS sponsored participants, we had the privilege of attending the 1st session of the XV Course of the European Academy for Medicine of Ageing (EAMA) from January 29th to February 3rd. This week-long course immersed us in the world of geriatric medicine alongside international colleagues and emerging leaders in the field. The European Academy for Medicine of Ageing (EAMA) is dedicated to enhancing scientific, clinical, educational and managerial skills and knowledge of professionals in geriatric medicine, aiming to improve the quality of care for the older population across Europe. Participants in the EAMA programs typically include physicians, researchers, and healthcare leaders committed to advancing the field of geriatric medicine. The sessions were enlightening, with keynote lectures delving into topics such as longevity and sarcopenia, providing valuable insights for our professional growth. The course offered a comprehensive overview of the latest scientific advancements and practical approaches in geriatric care. A highlight of the second night was a lively OSCE where groups from different European regions curated entertaining tasks, involving art, culinary delights, and linguistic challenges. Wednesday afternoon allowed for a delightful exploration of Milan, adding a touch of leisure to our educational journey. Friday marked a special occasion as three EAMA participants graduated, celebrated with a dinner and lively post-ceremony party. The experience was not only rewarding but also a platform for networking and skill enhancement. We delved into teaching and presentation techniques, gaining valuable knowledge to bring back to our respective regions. The take-home message emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous learning in improving geriatric care. Our heartfelt thanks go to EuGMS for this enriching opportunity. Together, we look forward to our continued journey in geriatric medicine, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Avila.
